Scream’s Jenna Ortega has joined the cast of upcoming mystery movie Miller’s Girl, also starring Marvel’s Martin Freeman.
The directorial debut from writer-director Jade Halley Bartlett, the film follows a teacher and his talented student embarking on a creative writing assignment that yields complex results (via Deadline).
Produced by Lionsgate and Point Grey, the film is currently in production in Georgia, United States.
“While we are excited for the movie to speak for itself, the level of talent assembled for this special film is a testament to Jade, whose screenplay lures you in with her dazzling voice. And then eats you alive,” Erin Westerman, President of Production for the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, said in a statement.
Ortega will next be seen in the titular role of Tim Burton’s Wednesday series for Netflix, opposite Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Isaac Ordonez, and Game of Thrones’ Gwendoline Christie.
Inspired by the beloved characters created by Charles Addams, the series follows a teenaged Wednesday as she attends high school at Nevermore Academy. There, she tries to master her psychic powers and solve a murder mystery that may hit a little too close to home.
